The Bandy series is wonderfully written and enormously entertaining. I hope more people rediscover this lost treasure. As with the previous books in the Bandy Papers, the characters are hilarious, and Bandy himself loses none of his charm. Everyone should read these books, and do so in the order in which they were written.

Not as good as the first in the series

The first book in the series (Promises Linger) wowed me so much that I immediately bought the next two. And I have to admit, if I hadn't loved the first one so much, and if I hadn't already liked the character of Cougar, I may not have gotten through the Kindle sample chapters to the rest of the book.

In the first chapter, there's a description of a rimming. (If you're not sure what that is, Google it. With caution.)** That is a usually a major turn off for me, but I kept going. And I'm glad I did.

This book was not as good as the first one, but I think it's because of my own level of discomfort with some of the subject matter. In the book description, you're told that Mara is a "soiled dove," but it doesn't explain that she was not actually a whore. She'd been sold into prostitution by her father to settle a debt, and then drugged and put in a room for a man to take her virginity. That man is Cougar, the male lead in this story, except he didn't know she was drugged. He does help her escape when he realizes what happened, but she doesn't remember that he's the man who "raped" her. She later marries him, still not knowing he's the one. But Cougar likes it rough, and it turns out that Mara does, too. And that's where I was a little uncomfortable throughout the book. Not that they liked it rough (I mean, really, who doesn't?), but that as a rape victim she found pleasure in the roughness.

This book, just like the first one, was hot, just not as good.

**The rimming happened more than once in the book, as did anal sex, so if that's a deal breaker for you, this isn't the book for you.

I think the book was too long and the scene where she finds out he's the one who raped her was very anti-climactic. For me, that was a big thing, but it just fizzled out....

I like some erotica, but the more I read it, the more I realize that it's the emotions I'm more interested in. I started skipping sex scenes at some point. Also, the focus on anal was a little much for me. The end annoyed me too. I'm a supporter of women's lib, but I don't want a soapbox moment in a historical romance.

I loved the first book. *spoiler alert* a man how takes a woman who was recently raped and force her to have sex is not right. Especially after he continuously tell her he will protect her is ridiculous. Also the anal was a bit much. She is terrified of sex so you do anal instead.....she finds out you raped her and no reaction?

Best lab manual I've used so far

I'll start with this: I'm writing this review not because I bought this book from amazon, but just because I'm so pleased with the publishers that I'd like to help them out. I came to this page because I'm actually trying to sell this book (I just finished the class and lab); seeing that it so far only has one review rated at 3 stars I felt compelled to help the publishers out. This is a great lab manual, by far the best I have ever used for any lab (I'm a biology major that has taking essentially all of the required labs thus far). The pages are highly detailed and spell out each step. The illustrations are great and the pictures are very fine. A lot of effort went into creating this lab manual.

Don't get me wrong - I truly dislike the subject of microbiology. I especailly despised this lab since it was writing intensive and required that much more work to get through. But this book made it much more bearable. It is a great learning tool. I know that if you're reading this you probably don't have a choice, this book is assigned to you and you have to buy it, but just know that even if you've heard that the lab for microbiology sucks (which it does! at least at Texas A&M), the lab manual is phenomenal.

Nuclear Power is our best option in many ways

The case for Nuclear power is put forward eloquently by Barry Brook. In clear and succinct language he point to the strong advantages of Nuclear power. These are clear and persuasive.

1. Because renewable energy & energy efficiency won’t solve the energy & climate crises
2. Because nuclear fuel is virtually unlimited & packs a huge energy punch
3. Because new technology solves the “nuclear waste” problem
4. Because nuclear power is the safest energy option
5. Because advanced nuclear power will strengthen global security
6. Because nuclear power’s true costs are lower than either fossil fuels or renewables
7. Because nuclear power can lead the “clean energy” revolution

The Case against Nuclear power by Ian Lowe is summarized below.

1. Because it is not a fast enough response
2. Because it is too expensive
3. Because the need for baseload power is exaggerated
4. Because the problem of radioactive waste remains unresolved

Frankly the replies ignore the basic science involved in Nuclear power generation. Take point 5 for example, that producing nuclear power will increase the risk of nuclear war. The idea that spreading the technical capacity for nuclear power could spread the risk of nuclear war ignores several realities. First, that the knowledge of how to produce a nuclear weapon is spread widely through out the world. We cannot put that knowledge away now. On the other hand, the production of nuclear power burns the U235 that could be used for a uranium bomb. You need a concentration of U253 above 95% to make a usable weapon. Most countries that desire a nuclear bomb obtained one BEFORE building a Nuclear Power generation plant. This is because to make Uranium at the concentration necessary does NOT require a Nuclear Power Plant. To make the Plutonium necessary requires a totally different type of reactor than a power reactor. To get the necessary purity you have to put a slug of uranium in a special reactor for a couple of weeks and then remove it and purify out the Plutonium so that you only get PU 239.

The Plutonium in a power reactor is mixed with many other forms of plutonium that make it very difficult - to the point of ridiculous expense - to purify enough to make a reliable weapon.

So a Power reactor burns the potential bomb fuel and turns it into carbon free power.

The rest of points that Ian makes are a fair representation of the arguments against the use of Nuclear power. They are only convince those who are pre-disposed to oppose Atomic power.

About the Author
Sandra (Sandee) Barker Dunbar, DPA, OTR/L, has practiced occupational therapy with children and families for more than 20 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Loma Linda University, her Master of Arts degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University, and her Doctor of Public Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University. Sandee’s initial occupational therapy work was in early intervention, neonatal intensive care, and community-based intervention. Sandee has enjoyed developing a variety of innovative programs for families, including a primary care approach to early identification of developmental issues in collaboration with a pediatrician, Dr. Rose Joseph. Currently, Sandee is Chair and Professor in the Occupational Therapy Program at Nova Southeastern University. Since 1995, Sandee has contributed to student learning at NSU while maintaining a link to clinical and community settings that are geared toward helping children and families. This includes supervising students in on-campus pre-service learning at the Baudhuin School of the Mailman Segal Institute, which serves hundreds of children with autism each year. Sandee continues to be committed to creatively finding ways to better meet family needs for children with and without disabilities.
