Very few lessons

The writer puts together an impressive line up of business people, ones with hugely successful careers from varied industries, but focuses far more on their biographies than their "mistakes". Worse yet, only a handful of the 30 cases actually had real mistakes to speak of and to learn from. Unfortunately this book is more entertainment than educational.

Too much primal behavior, not enough human elements

I was so excited when I read the sample, it seemed interesting and pulled me in. I was expecting so much more to this, a little romance some chase before the two main characters got together, but no. Everything about this was all about the raw base nature of the Were's and hardly no human element at all. Too much sex, way too much sex. Not enough emotion, I could not relate to one character and all the nudity and dominance showing licking and biting was weird and overdone. It was like reading about animals that moonlighted as humans occasionally. I was disappointed to say the least. I just discovered Radclyffe and I like a few of her romances and I guess I thought she would bring some of that romance element here to this series, but I was mistaken. If your looking for a cold, sex driven story with not enough interesting plot to not care about all the raw sex, then this is for you. I gave it two stars because the writing was not bad, but that's all that WASN'T that bad.

Utterly Horrible

This is one book that I truly had trouble finishing. I wouldn't classify it as romance so much as bestial sex on steroids. Don't get me wrong, I'll enjoy a good romance book as much as the next person, as long as there's actual *romance* involved. But this was just sex, sex, and more sex (at one point, I actually said "Not again.") and there was little emotion in it. I never felt the love between the main characters, and certainly never saw any character development. It felt like Raand was going too far into the primal, bestial mind of animals, and it reflected in the prevalent, (often violent) sex scenes. There wasn't much of a plot, either, and at the same time, I never felt I got to know any of the characters. There was no depth. Too many scenes of characters going into extremes of rage or arousal, with little in between. Honestly, this book fell far short of my expectations. I certainly won't be reading the others in the series. A big disappointment.

The bit of politics thrown in was pretty predictable and of course you can't trust vampires but ...

This is prob with a cheesy supernatural blanket over it. I'm being serious. The plot is weak the.characters may at some point have gotten interesting if 95% of them weren't always thinking about or having sex. The sex wasn't interesting but it was abundant. The characters incited in me more irritation than intrigue. The multiple species had a somewhat unique interpretation it just wasn't an interesting one and again revolved mainly around sex in their mind and their sexual interactions with each other. The relationships seemed almost solely based on sex. The bit of politics thrown in was pretty predictable and of course you can't trust vampires but the story itself was weak. People really seem to enjoy this but book and this series I bought this one to give it a shot before venturing on to the others but after reading this I can say with confidence and no disappointment whatsoever that I will NOT be reading anymore of this series. And this is perhaps the fifth book by this author(under this name or otherwise) that I've read and I've realized her style just doesn't seem for me this book was the nail in the coffin. However even with that being said I don't think my personal preference in authors or writing style are what turns me away from this book I really just don't like it. I suggest you borrow it if you can to see if it's your taste but I really don't think it's worth a buy I'm sorry.

Stunning pictures but lacking text

As essentially a "picture book," the title really does well here. Just over 300 pages long, each one a glossy full color page containing a full spread of a picture. The pictures themselves are stunning, both in printing and photographing - great color, saturation, framing, and overall composition. Paper weight is substantial, making the piece more of a coffee table book than something you'd sit in bed with. Somewhat chronologically arranged, starting with the earliest models, and moving through in chapters according to "erras," some of which overlap in years, to the modern day variants. Almost all pictures contain years and model designations, with some showcasing brief model specifications, such as engine, transmission, production, etc. The break in pages on the two-page spreads somewhat detracts from the viewing, but not much you can really do with that.

The text is really the low point of the book for me. What little text there is present is repeated in several languages, throughout most of the book. A short forward, and a small paragraph introducing each chapter is essentially the only information provided. No details on the history of each model, particular artwork / branding of the car, etc. Just a year, model, and a few sentences on what the particular era the chapter is based around. I understand providing a history lesson wasn't the main purpose of this book, but it would still have been nice to have a little background to accompany the stunning photographs.

Overall rather happy with the purchase; worth the price in my opinion. Definitely a book that will actually get picked up and flipped through for some time to come, and not just collect dust on some shelf. Great to show someone the progression of the brand, or as a conversation piece with company.

Lot's of Pictures

The pictures are fantastic but I was hoping for a complete history on the 911. If you are looking for an in depth look into how the 911 came about, you are looking at the wrong book. The book will give you a brief history of each model change but there is isn't enough meat to describe the conception, development and refinement of this fine vehicle.

Major Disappointment

I'm a Porsche enthusiast and own a 911 Turbo. I bought this book expecting to read "the" illustrated history of this amazing car. However, for my surprise, it is basically a bunch of nice photographs bundled together in chronological order. There is almost no text or information. Well, if you like photography, as I do, then this may be a book for you. But if you want to learn about the Porsche 911 and its history, then look for something else. Too expensive for what it is. Well, I returned the book to Amazon.

Eye-Opening

I never understood before. My mother's whole family is a nest of narcissists. It was tough growing up. I'm nothing like them, I take after my father's side of the family. It was so bizarre. It was like they (figuratively) liked to "bathe in people's blood". I just could not, for the life of me, figure out why someone would want to. I mean, come on already. How can they possibly WANT to hurt someone? To slice and dice and just cut somebody to pieces. I simply could not ignore the evidence of my own eyes, but it all seemed so unreal. I was just a child, I was innocent and helpless. They were so vicious, they spat venom, they bit and snarled and ripped and ground and stomped and kicked and screamed and slashed and growled and spat and glared and howled and scratched and punched and slapped and flung and smacked and would not stop and blamed everyone else and loved every minute, every second of it. Their eyes would shine, their cheeks and foreheads were so, so pink, they would, I don't even know what you would call it, they would giggle-snarl. (It was decidedly an unpleasant thing to hear.) They... drooled. You knew when they were going to start in, because they would start drooling. Just a little bit, in the corner. Drool. I started understanding a little bit when that song came out when I was a teenager, "Anticipation". Whenever I see someone drooling, or unfairly jumping all over someone, I can still hear that song. I never liked that song. I stopped liking ketchup for years because of that song.

Thanks for this book. I am understanding for the first time what motivates this impossible behavior. It's still ugly as sin, but I'm gleaning a bit of why, which I just never had before. Thanks.

Fuel is "spot on" with what narcissists do and why they act like they do. Written by a narcissist, it gives great insight as to why and what goes on in their devious minds. I found it so in tune with my own experiences. It's amazing how you know they are up to no good, but once you read why and what they are thinking, it's a real revelation. Thanks to the author for sharing his world.
Having been in a "relationship" (if there is such a thing with a narc) with a narcissist for 6 years I have to say this book is very enlightening and again it details situations very much like ones I had with my narcissistic boyfriend and now I know why he did the things he did and even more importantly what he gained from it. I had several "wow" moments while reading this Fuel and I found it extremely interesting. This is a must read if you have been involved with one of these individuals and you are the least bit curious what makes them tick or, even worse, how the negative emotions they evoked in you were giving them the most benefit! Our suffering is their best fuel! Read Fuel and don't be their fuel!

The 3rd book in the series...

This is the third book in the Heartskeep series. Alexis Ryder has just found, from her dying father, that she was adopted illegally. She sets off with a bloody suitcase full of money to find her real family. She meets and falls for Wyatt, a cop in the town where her family is. He mistakes her for one of her sisters and she lets him believe the lie so that she can find out more about her family and the reason why there are people after her.
I enjoyed this book, especially the romance between the characters. The final book in the series usually ties it all up nicely, but I thought that in this case it was a little too pat. It wasn't that hard to figure out who did it, and all was forgiven a little too easily. A good summer read.

Better than I expected

This is a Mills and Boon Silhouette, ‘Intrigue’ romance. That probably means a lot to those who read these books regularly. As a writer, and a bloke, I read this one to see whether it was a genre I could write. So, bear all that in mind as you read this review.

It is, of course, a love story. But it’s also a lot more. The element of crime is strong, as are the elements of family and social injustice. A lot of readers condemn these books out of hand, assuming they’re poorly written and formulaic. I found this to be neither of those things.

There is suspense, mystery, tension, both sexual and general, and there is, of course, a burgeoning romance. It’s this final element that’s formulaic. The reader understands that the two main protagonists are destined for each other and recognises the barriers placed for them to cross in order to arrive at the essential happy ending (no, I don’t think that’s a spoiler: a romance of this nature has a happy ending; they all do).

As for the writing? It’s tense where it should be, description isn’t overdone, the action scenes are well handled and the relationships, complex and multi-faceted, are presented cleverly. I found the plot a little over-cooked and the author seemed to have found herself in something of a maze, if the denouement narrative is a guide. The ending reminded me a bit of Agatha Christie’s Poirot and his habit of describing his method of detection to the gathered guilty and innocent.

For me, character is the most important factor in a book. The individuals who people these pages are well drawn and various. That they can be slotted into various stereotypes is inevitable, given the narrow guidelines determined by the publishers, but that doesn’t prevent these particular players from being real people. I enjoyed the strong female lead and the object of her desire fitted in well with her hopes with enough potential flaws to make the reader wonder just enough. The minor players were also well constructed.

There is inevitably, given the specifics set by the publishers, rather more telling than showing than is good for the book. And some of the twists and turns seem to have been inserted ‘on the hoof’ rather than planned; but I can hardly complain at that, since I do it all the time myself.

But, in spite of its intended female readership and the slant it must take for such an audience, I enjoyed the read and found it largely satisfying. For those who care, there remains an unanswered question, of course. The answer is that I have already written a book containing much of what we find here, but I couldn’t write for this specific genre. It’s too confined and controlled for the way I write. But that’s not a reflection of the ability of this author; she’s worked within the constraints admirably and turned out a pretty good read that, I imagine, will sit very happily with those who more regularly read this type of fiction.

So, if you enjoy your romance with intrigue, mystery and some threat facing the heroine, you’ll get good value and plenty of entertainment from this one. Give it a go.
